Mary
Bell is the “Bell” of BellReed Designs. She founded
the company in 1998 under the name of CC Designs. When her
son Troy became a partner in 2006, the name was appropriately
changed to BellReed Designs.
Mary has over 26 years of experience in construction and design.
Her career began unexpectedly while she was working for a large
brokerage firm in the Northeast as the senior underwriter for
oil and gas, representing Lloyd’s of London. As the brokerage
firm grew and acquired more companies, it found itself in possession
of several buildings to maintain, many of them vacant, which
was a great expense to the firm. Mary suggested the firm simply
fix up the buildings and sell them to make a profit. The next
morning, the firm’s president put Mary in charge of remodeling
the buildings. For the next 13 years, she traveled throughout
the country remodeling commercial and residential properties
for the firm. Seeing her success and realizing that remodeling
was her calling, she left the firm in pursuit of her dream
of designing luxury residential kitchens and baths.
Since becoming a designer, Mary has studied kitchen and bath
design with the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA),
has trained kitchen designers for a “big-box” retailer
where she ranked as their #2 salesperson and has designed kitchens
and baths for clients in Texas, Colorado, South Carolina, Georgia,
California, Hawaii, the Cayman Islands and Mexico. Her projects
included the remodeling of an old hotel in Colorado that she
reverted into artist studios.
When Mary opened CC Designs in 1998, her intention was to
develop a one-stop shop, where clients could receive expert
design, top quality products and appliances and in-house construction
services all under one roof. When her oldest son Troy joined
the company as a partner in 2006, Mary saw this dream recognized.
She and Troy had already been working together for over 13
years and the partnership only served to make the company stronger
and more successful. Together they have conquered remodeling
projects in homes as new as five years old to those as old
as fifty years old. They specialize in working within the footprint
of a house to make it work with the new design. Their goal
is to make kitchens and baths bigger, and life for their clients
better. Every room Mary designs is intended to become a signature
kitchen or bath, one that leaves the viewer in awe and wondering, “Who
designed this beautiful room?”
Mary is a true renaissance woman. In addition to designing
dream kitchens and baths, she is a glass and metal artist who
creates stained panels, carved glass and metal designs that
are sometimes incorporated into a remodeling project. She owned
a glass studio in Evergreen, Colorado, where she lived prior
to moving to Houston in 1994. She is also a certified ski instructor,
a pilot who built her own airplane in her den, a mother of
4 and a grandmother of 8. She also has three Yorkie dogs named
Cie Cie, Be Be and Sophie, who will greet you at the door when
you visit the BellReed Designs showroom.
