The Roberts Project

This kitchen required a full remodel with an updated look, more space and increased storage. The homeowner requested a “magazine style kitchen” with a country hearth look and blue accents. She wanted a walk-in pantry, a special home for her dog, higher ceilings, place for the family to gather, a place for her water cooler and even a refrigerator that provided extra cold milk. We met every challenge head-on and we were able to give our client everything she requested.

First, we took down the exterior wall at the back of the home and added 1000-square feet of space for the kitchen. With this extra space, we were able to create a breakfast area large enough for 12 people, as well as add two islands – a large prep island and a smaller work island. The larger island was able to seat 8 people and included a sink and appliances. The smaller island was finished in a high gloss slate blue with a blue lapis counter top, providing the blue accents the homeowner requested. We added a walk-in pantry that housed her water cooler and a kennel in the back of the kitchen for her dog. We were also able to install a three-zone refrigerator with a freezer and two refrigerated sections, allowing the client to chill her milk and beverages at a colder temperature than the rest of her food.

To give our client the Old World feel she wanted, we added alder wood cabinets stained in dark brandy wine, a Cotto Veneti stone backsplash imported from Italy and porcelain travertine look flooring. Taller ceilings with recessed lighting, a pendant light over the large island, under and above cabinet lighting all added to the ambience.

As a special surprise to our client, we created a desk area and china cabinet that added convenience and storage space to the room. Today our client says, “I’ve had my kitchen for two years now and I still love it.”
